We are saddened to learn of the passing of Jos Brouwer from the Netherlands. Jos was a long-time supporter of EBCU and a familiar face in the European beer community. He first joined EBCU as a delegate representing the Dutch consumer organisation PINT, and later served for many years as a member of the EBCU Executive.

Even after stepping down from the Executive, Jos remained active in the EBCU community. During his time on the Executive, he was a strong advocate for EBCU’s endorsement of beer competitions, working actively to shape EBCU’s position in this area.

Jos was also a highly respected international beer judge, with experience in competitions across Europe, the United States, and Japan. His deep knowledge, fair judgement, and kind presence will be missed by all who had the pleasure of working with him.

Among his favourite places was the brewery Fässla in Bamberg — perhaps his very favourite. It was a place he returned to often and spoke of with genuine affection.
