EBCU Ranked 3rd in Gourmand International’s 30th Awards

"EBCU’s Beer Styles of Europe and Beyond has been awarded 3rd place at the 30th Gourmand Awards in the Beer Books – Other Drinks category!"

25th of June, 2025

We’re proud to share that the European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU) has been awarded 3rd place in the category W2-8 Beer Books – Other Drinks at the 30th Gourmand International Awards.

What makes this especially exciting is that our Beer Styles of Europe and Beyond website – beer-styles.ebcu.org – was recognised alongside printed books from across the globe. The Gourmand Awards honour the best in food and drink culture, including cookbooks, wine and beer writing, and digital content. This year’s results were just announced, and we’re thrilled to see our work ranked so highly.

“It is wonderful to have our hard work rewarded and having our accumulated knowledge taken seriously as a source of high quality information.”
Tim Webb, lead author of the website

Why This Matters

While our beer styles guide is a free, digital resource – not a printed book – it was still considered worthy of international recognition. The award highlights:

  • The quality and credibility of our educational work

  • The importance of beer culture within the wider food and drink world

  • The value of making knowledge freely accessible to consumers and enthusiasts everywhere

We created this resource to help people discover the breadth and depth of beer styles across Europe and beyond, and this award encourages us to keep going.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making the site what it is – contributors, translators, designers, and supporters. This honour belongs to all of you.
