European Beer Consumers Union polls candidates for European Parliament on their view on consumption of beer

The European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU), “The Voice of the European Beer Consumer”, has started an election poll among candidates for the European Parliament to learn their view on the consumption of beer and beer culture in Europe. In the so called “Beer-o-meter”, candidates are invited to react on five statements. Shortly before the elections, beer consumers across Europe will be invited to participate and learn which candidates support a vibrant and diverse beer culture.

EBCU presents Manifesto stressing Diversity, Information and Cost

The European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU), “The Voice of the European Beer Consumer”, presented its new Manifesto yesterday to Europarliamentarian Wim van de Camp and Brewers of Europe representative Jan Lichota. The Manifesto stresses the importance of a sufficiently rich choice of beers from different brewers at any point of sale, information on beer ingredients and beer manufacturer on the label and an acceptable price for the beer drinker.

The Beer Duty Escalator scrapped

EBCU congratulates CAMRA and all who have been involved in the campaign to stop the "Beer Duty Escalator" in the UK, with the Chancellors decision to cut beer duty for the first time in decades.
It is great news, not only for beer drinkers in Britain but all over Europe.
It shows that continued thoughtless rises in beer excise can be stopped by combined effort of consumers and industry.

EBCU oppose rising excises in European countries

"European Beer consumers oppose rising excises in European countries. The European Beer Consumers Union, The Voice of the European Beer Consumer has issued an open letter to Members of European Parliament today. In its letter EBCU urges Members of Parliament to use their influence to stop the fact that especially beer is singled out to address budgetary deficit in various EU countries. Taxation leads to higher cost and will limit consumers' choice as breweries will be endangered by higher fiscal burden. "
