The European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU) was formed in Bruges in May 1990 by CAMRA,
the Campaign for Real Ale, of Great Britain, Objectieve Bierproevers of Belgium and PINT of the Netherlands. The three founding members have since been joined by similarly-minded national consumer groups from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and France. And from Belgium Zythos has taken the place of Objectieve Bierproevers which was wound up in 2002. EBCU is a non-political, non-religious organisation formed to co-ordinate the European activities of the European National Beer consumer organisations.
